PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University women's basketball team got 19 points each from
Kylei Leblanc and
Amiyah Simpkins but couldn't overcome miscues in a 75-60 loss to the Xavier Gold Nuggets Thursday evening on the Gene Rushing Court at H.O. West Fieldhouse.
Louisiana Christian (2-16, 1-11 RRAC) was tabbed with 26 turnovers in the loss while unable to get the same charity from Xavier (10-7, 7-5 RRAC), only forcing the Gold Nuggets into 12 miscues.
Just days after being named the NAIA's National Defensive Player of the Week for her play last week, Leblanc scored 19 points on seven-of-11 shooting while grabbing nine rebounds, getting five steals, and blocking four Gold Nugget shots.
Simpkins was five-of-11 from the field for her 19 points while giving out a couple of assists and grabbing a board.
The Wildcats wrap up their homestand a day earlier than anticipated as winter weather forced LCU to push its game against North American to Friday. Tip-off of Friday's contest against the Stallions (9-6, 7-6 RRAC) is set for 5:30 p.m. on Gene Rushing Court at H.O. West Fieldhouse.
