Weinmunson’s 21 Points Not Enough at OLLU

Senior Guard has Second 20-Point Outing of 2025-26

SAN ANTONIO – The Louisiana Chrisitan University men's basketball team got 21 points from Bryce Weinmunson, just one point off his season high, but couldn't overcome a hot-shooting Our Lady of the Lake in a 79-64 loss to the Saints Saturday evening at Mabee Gymnasium.

Louisiana Christian (3-12, 2-7 RRAC) had several early leads. Justice Kelly opened the game's scoring with a lay-up for a 2-0 advantage. Our Lady of the Lake (9-6, 8-2 RRAC) scored the next five points before Joshua Escheik hit a three to tie the score at 5-5.

OLLU would hold the advantage from there until Jalani Bell hit a jumper with 12:40 left before halftime to put the Wildcats up 18-17.

LCU kept it tight over the next few minutes with a lay-up by Bell putting the Wildcats within one at 27-26 with 9:15 left in the half. However, the Saints went on an 11-0 run to take their first double digit lead of the game before Weinmunson hit a three to get the deficit back down to nine with 6:15 left before the break. OLLU led 45-36 at the break.

An OLLU three-pointer started the second half, only for the Wildcats to score the next five points on an Escheik three and a Weinmunson jumper to get the deficit down to seven points at 48-41 with 16:40 remaining.

A three-pointer by the Saints on their ensuing possession got the deficit back to 10 points and LCU would not be able to get it under double-digits for the remainder of the contest. OLLU's lead peaked at 17 points, 79-62, with 1:45 left on the clock.

Weinmunson hit three three-point field goals on his way to his 21 points, which is his most since a 22-point day against Mobile earlier this season. He was also one of three Wildcats to grab a team-high six rebounds in the contest. He added three steals and a pair of assists in the contest.

Kelly was the lone other Wildcat in double figures with 14 points, hitting five of his 10 shot attempts, connecting on both of his shots from beyond the arc as well. He joined Weinmunson with six boards while also dishing out a pair of assists.

Drew Tebbe, coming off of his game-winner at Texas A&M-San Antonio on Thursday, finished with four points but also grabbed six rebounds and handed out a team-high five assists while also coming up with a pair of steals.

Corey Lombard, Jr. came off the bench to score eight points while Tomario Thomas, Jr. added seven for the reserves.

LCU hit 37.7 percent of its shot attempts in the contest, including eight three-point field goals while connecting on 30.8 percent from deep. OLLU was successful on 59.2 percent of shot attempts in the game and hit at a 52.6 percent clip from beyond the three-point arc. The Saints also enjoyed an advantage from the free throw line as well, hitting 11 of their 18 shots from the stripe while LCU was awarded six free throws in the contest, hitting four of them.

With the five-game road trip now complete, the Wildcats come home for the next four, starting on Thursday as North Texas-Dallas comes to Pineville. Tip-off of Thursday's contest against the Trailblazers (5-9, 4-6 RRAC) is set for 7:30 p.m. on Gene Rushing Court at H.O. West Fieldhouse.
