  • Ceding one more game but still getting the point without too much stress was #3 Alexandra Cedeno, going 6-4 then 6-3 to beat Angela Bastro-Parra.

  • The third singles win and the one that sent the Orange and Blue into the Semis came off the racket of Patricia Principal Pineda out of the sixth slot, winning the first set (6-1), falling in the next (3-6), and finally putting the game away in dominating fashion with a third set sweep (6-0) of Daniela Maldonado.

  • Cedeno / Principal Pineda got the morning going in the right direction by winning the #1 doubles court opposite Pierina Lescher / Maldonado via a tiebreaker (77-62).

  • With the singles eventually getting split at 3 per side, the doubles point turned into the deciding factor which made the 6-2 decision picked up by Ana Sofia Ferrer Martinez and Raquel Coelho Rodrigues even more important than the typical third flight win, doing so by upending Sara Sofia Sanchez and Lidia Gomez.
