AUSTIN, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University baseball program opened the floodgates with a back-breaking eight-run second inning, practically ending the game before it truly began, motoring by the HTU Rams in a laugher, 13-3 in seven during game one of the three-game set.

• Brady Huffman had himself a field day against the Maroon and Gold, setting personal-bests of three hits (3-for-4) and five RBIs with the only extra-base hit for the Cats (a two-run double), a sacrifice fly, and a two-run single on top of a run scored.

 

• Three things are seemingly inevitable; death, taxes, and Cy Fontenot pitching a seven-inning complete game; as the ace blew through the home nine with a season-high ten strikeouts while going the distance for the fourth time in 2025 (the only player to log a complete game so far), did not give up any walks for the sixth outing, yielded only three runs, and allowed the same amount of base runners than innings pitched (6 hits and one hit-by-pitch).

 

• Braxton Cooksey and Adrian Aguilar got the merry-go-round started in that eight-run frame, picking up back-to-back five-pitch walks with the bases loaded as the Rams unraveled themselves.

 
                        * Cooksey also drove in a run on a single into the gap that gave LCU double-digits on the scoreboard. 
 

• Tyler McKenna drew a trio of free passes with one of those leading to a score while Braden Trull was hit by a pair of inside pitches in addition to going 2-of-2 with three runs, an RBI, and a base on balls.

 

• Patience paid off early for the Orange and Blue as they tallied nine walks in seven innings, four of which came with the sacks full (all in the second), while six of those ball fours came in that aforementioned nightmare of a frame for Huston-Tillotson.
