Â
SHREVEPORT, La. – The Louisiana Christian University baseball program almost had a season-defining moment when
Harrison Waxley put the Diamond Cats in front with a Grand Salami in the sixth on the road at the fourth-ranked and unbeaten LSU Shreveport Pilots, but it was not to be as the home nine kept their perfect year alive for at least one more game with a walk-off sacrifice fly in the seventh to break LCU's hearts, 5-4.

Wildcats Top Performers:
Â
- Waxley was almost the team's savior, watching his first career grand slam sail through the Shreveport air and over the wall.
Â
- Nick Lorio did his job out of the leadoff role, picking up a pair of knocks in three at-bats and scoring.
Â
- Jacob Bareswill held down the fort just enough for the Cats to claw back, pitching five innings while allowing three runs and punching out two while leaving with the lead.
Â
- Brady Huffman did not record a hit but did get on-base twice without using his bat, getting drilled with an errant pitch and coaxing the lone walk, crossing the dish on the slam.
Â
- Coleman Haltom left the outing the way he found it, tossing a scoreless and hitless sixth, striking out a pair of Pilots and ceding a walk, nothing more.
Â
Next:
 Â
- The Orange and Blue are currently trying to halt its five game slide and salvage the series in game three.
