Seventh Inning Rally Seals Split With Bleu Devils

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Louisiana Christian University softball program juiced the bases with no outs and down one (3-2) in the seventh, Bevan Hartnett lined out then Emma Hunt brought home the tying run from third before the go-ahead run scored on a throwing error in from the outfield as the ladies escaped by the skin of their teeth, 4-3 in the nightcap at Dillard.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Miah Broussard tossed her third complete game in five starts and improved her record on the mound to 3-2 with a scattering of three runs but countered it with a season-high six strikeouts.

                        * Broussard continued the weekly theme of pitchers helping out themselves in the batter's box, driving in a pair of RBIs courtesy of a double and a fielder's choice.

  • Bella Houck only had one official at-bat over four plate appearances, that's because she walked not once, not twice, but thrice.

  • Lexi Broussard had an interesting game two, also reaching safely on three separate occasions but she got plunked twice and connected for a single before making the Bleu Devils pay each time with three stolen bases.

  • Emma Hunt had a pair of hits, getting the first two legs of the cycle via a single and a double plus a run scored / steal.

  • Hannah Harrison got the ball rolling in that final frame by dropping a single over the head of the second baseman into in front of the right fielder, Jordan Dauthier turned into the winning score after she cracked a pinch-hit line drive in the next at-bat, then Carley Koch wore a bruise (hit-by-pitch) for the second time on the day to setup the bases loaded, no outs scenario.

Next:

  • Back to RRACtion go the Diamond Cats, staying in the Crescent City for two more opposite the Xavier Gold Nuggets at 11 a.m. / 1 p.m. Saturday on The Fly.
