PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University women's basketball team got a double-double from
Kateria Gooden in a reserve role, but it wasn't enough to get back from a slow start in an 85-49 loss to the (RV) LSU Shreveport Pilots Saturday afternoon on the Gene Rushing Court at H.O. West Fieldhouse.
Louisiana Christian (1-9, 0-4 RRAC) was behind from the get-go as LSU Shreveport (9-3, 5-0 RRAC) scored the game's first 14 points and the deficit would not fall under 11 points for the remainder of the contest.
Gooden finished the game with 11 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season, the previous one coming in her lone start so far this year, against LSU Alexandria. She also blocked a Pilot shot during the contest.
M'Kiyiah Olivier also came off the bench to score nine points to be the next highest scorer on the day for LCU.
Maddison Carey led the Wildcats with two assists.
The Wildcats start a five-game road trip on Thursday as LCU heads to Tyler, Texas for a date with Texas College. Tip-off of Thursday's contest against the Steers (5-6, 3-2 RRAC) is set for 5:30 p.m. at Gus F. Taylor Gymnasium.
