PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University women's basketball team got a double-double from
Kylei Leblanc while
Carlea Owens and
Amiyah Simpkins also scored in double figures, but turnovers proved costly in a 63-48 loss to the Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagles Thursday night at Gene Rushing Court at H.O. West Fieldhouse.
Louisiana Christian (1-8, 0-3 RRAC) never led in the contest while tying the score once, at 2-2 off a pair of free throws by Leblanc in the early going. Texas A&M-Texarkana (4-5, 3-1 RRAC) led by as much as 21 points, taking advantage of a plus-13 in points off turnovers, 24-11.
Owens and Simpkins both scored 12 points to lead the Wildcats in scoring on the evening. Owens was five-of-10 from the field and grabbed six rebounds. Simpkins hit three three-point field goals on her way to her 12 points while adding four rebounds and an assist.
Leblanc had her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds while blocking a season-high five Eagle shot attempts. She also added a steal and an assist.
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday when (RV) LSU Shreveport comes down I-49 to Pineville. Tip-off of Saturday's contest against the Pilots (8-2, 4-0 RRAC) is set for 1 p.m. at Gene Rushing Court at H.O. West Fieldhouse.
