Weinmunson’s 22 Not Enough at Mobile

LCU Struggles in Season's First Loss

MOBILE, Ala. – The Louisiana Christian University men's basketball team got 22 points from Bryce Weinmunson, but the Wildcats were unable to keep in contact with Mobile, falling 94-57 to the Rams Saturday afternoon at H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium.

Mobile (5-1) controlled the game throughout, scoring the game's first eight points. Weinmunson finally got Louisiana Christian (1-1) on the board to end the early run.

LCU got as close as four the rest of the way with a Drew Tebbe jumper cutting it down to 17-13 with 11:25 left in the half. However, Mobile scored the next 10 points to open a 14-point edge, their largest of the first period. The Rams would take a 12-point lead into the halftime locker room at 43-31.

The second half was all Rams as Mobile used a 30-10 run to turn a 12-point lead, 45-33, into a 32-point lead, 75-43, with 7:30 remaining in the contest. LCU would get as close as 27 points the rest of the way before Mobile slowly pulled away further late with the game's last bucket giving the Rams their largest lead of the contest at 37 points for the final margin.

Weinmunson's 22 points led all scorers in the contest. He was eight-of-16 from the field and hit all six of his free throws. He also grabbed six rebounds, had two steals, blocked a shot, and dished out an assist.

LCU's only double-figure scorer was Chad Jones, who came off the bench to score 16 points on seven-of-14 shooting, including a made three-pointer. He grabbed four rebounds, had two assists, and a steal.

The Wildcats struggled from the field, hitting just 34.4 percent from the field and 17.4 percent from three-point range.

Mobile connected on 50.7 percent of its shot attempts and hit at a 39.3 percent clip from deep.

The Wildcats come home for the first time this season as Tougaloo comes to Pineville on Tuesday night for the LCU men's basketball team's home opener for the 2025-26 season. Tip-off of Tuesday's game against the Bulldogs (0-3) is set for 7 p.m. at Gene Rushing Court at H.O. West Fieldhouse.
