PINEVILLE, La. – Freshman guard
Maddison Carey had the best day of her young college career, but her four three-pointers wasn't enough as the Louisiana Christian University women's basketball team fell 74-39 to the (RV) William Carey Crusaders Saturday afternoon at Gene Rushing Court at H.O. West Fieldhouse.
Louisiana Christian (1-4) never led in the contest as William Carey (4-0) scored the game's first seven points and continued to extend the lead throughout.
Carey's team-leading 16 points for the Wildcats came on five-of-10 shooting, hitting four of her seven attempts from beyond the three-point arc. She also grabbed three rebounds and had an assist.
Amiyah Simpkins was the only other LCU player to get into double figures in scoring, ending the night with 10 points to go along with six rebounds, a steal, and an assist.
Kylei Leblanc grabbed seven boards to lead the team in rebounding while also getting two steals, blocking a shot, and getting an assist.
LCU finished the game shooting at a 31.1 percent clip while hitting six three-pointers, connecting on 35.3 percent of their shots from deep.
The Wildcats look to rebound on Tuesday evening as Dillard makes the trip to Pineville from New Orleans. Tip-off of Tuesday's contest against the Bleu Devils (2-3) is set for 5:30 p.m. at Gene Rushing Court at H.O. West Fieldhouse.
