Hernandez Vivar Scores Brace in Defeat

Junior Forward Scores Eighth & Ninth Goals of Season, but Wildcats Drop Result to A&M-San Antonio

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University men's soccer team saw Aran Hernandez Vivar add two more goals to his team-leading total, but the Wildcats dropped a tough 3-2 result to the Texas A&M-San Antonio Jaguars Thursday night at Wildcat Field.

The Wildcats (3-5-1, 1-3-1 RRAC) held an early edge, but the Jaguars (6-2-1, 3-2 RRAC) found their footing in the second half to open up play and put an onslaught on the LCU goal in the last 45 minutes.

LCU opened the scoring in the 21st minute as the Wildcats pushed the ball into the box, forcing a foul which earned the orange and blue a penalty kick. Hernandez Vivar stepped up to the spot and calmly and decisively placed the ball into the back of the net to give Louisiana Christian a 1-0 lead. That's the way it would stay all the way to halftime.

But TAMUSA came out firing in the second half, firing off 16 shots in the final 45 minutes. The pressure eventually produced results for the visitors who tallied goals in the 68th, 77th, and 83rd minutes to bust ahead 3-1.

LCU quickly got one of those back in the 84th minute as Hernandez Vivar took in a centering pass from Victor Silva and sent a screamer of a shot into the top left corner of the net to make it 3-2, and give the Wildcats hope for a late equalizer. That equalizer never came as LCU could not get another shot off before the 90 minutes were up.

At the match's end, TAMUSA out-shot the Wildcats 21-9, putting nine on target compared to three on frame for LCU.

Hernendez Vivar took three shots in the match with the two he put on frame both going into the net for his team-leading eighth and ninth goals of the season.

Thiago Lopes took two shots, putting one on target.

Ricardo Gross (1-2-1) was credited with six saves in the defeat, five of which came in the last 45 minutes.

The Wildcats finish their final full weekend of home matches in 2025 with senior day on Saturday, hosting Our Lady of the Lake. Kickoff of Saturday's contest against the Saints (2-8-2, 1-4 RRAC) is set for 3 p.m. at Wildcat Field with the senior day presentation taking place right before kickoff.
