OKLAHOMA CITY – The Sooner Athletic Conference named Louisiana Christian University football team member
Trace McHugh its Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts Saturday against Fort Lauderdale.
The sophomore inside linebacker from Loreauville, La. ended the 42-6 Wildcat win Saturday with five total tackles, three of which were solo. Included in those numbers was a sack of the Eagle quarterback, part of the 2.5 tackles he had behind the line of scrimmage against UFTL.
McHugh becomes the third Wildcat honored with a SAC Player of the Week award this season after
Datlan Cunningham (offensive) and
Levi Hilborn (special teams) both earned awards back on Sept. 15.
McHugh and the rest of the LCU football team head to Fort Worth, Texas for a battle between two of the three teams still unbeaten in SAC play this season as the Wildcats (4-2, 3-0 SAC) take on Texas Wesleyan. Kickoff against the Rams (3-2, 3-0 SAC) is set for 2 p.m. at the Crowley ISD Multi-Purpose Stadium, the home of the 2025 NAIA Football National Championship Game.
