LONGVIEW, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University men's soccer team got a three-goal performance from Aran Hernander Vivar on its way to its first conference win of the season with a dominant 9-3 result over the Texas College Steers Thursday afternoon at Lear Park.
Juan Sierra opened the scoring just 90 seconds after kickoff and the Wildcats were on their way.
Gustavo Varnier added a goal at the 11-minute mark and Hernandez Vivar got his first a minute later to give LCU a 3-0 lead just 12 minutes into the contest.
Hernandez Vivar's second came in the 36
th minute and then
Juan Pablo Murillo Pazos added one in the 44
th to give the Wildcats a 5-0 lead at the break.
Hernandez Vivar completed the hat trick in the 51
st minute to put LCU up 6-0.
But Texas College showed some fight, scoring in the 55
th and 60
th minutes to cut the deficit down to 6-2 quickly.
Duarte Mendes slowed the Steer rally with a 62
nd minute goal, only to see TC get it back in the 69
th minute, making it 7-3 Wildcats.
But that was Texas College's last gasp at a comeback as Sierra added another in the 78
th minute and
Christian Sigaran capped the scoring in the 83
rd minute.
Hernandez Vivar's three goals came on six shots, four of which were on frame. He also added an assist.
Sierra scored twice on four shots, all four of which were on frame. He also contributed assists to three of the other goals scored in the contest.
LCU took 26 shots in the contest with 19 being on target. Texas College took eight shots, putting six on target.
The Wildcats (3-4, 1-2 RRAC) now head out to the desert southwest for a date with the University of the Southwest on Saturday. Kickoff against the Mustangs (1-4-1, 0-2 RRAC) is set for 4:30 p.m. CDT/3:30 p.m. MDT in Hobbs, N.M. at the Bob Moran Soccer Field.
