Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Valeria Barriga Casallas headlined an all-out assault on the poor PQC goalie, recording her first career multi-goal match by coming off the bench to score twice in a five-minute span between the 32nd and 36th minutes as she logged a season-high four shots.

  • In an interesting twist, Emma Monnet put together the same exact stat line on Saturday as she did against Southwest on Thursday; six shots, three shots-on-goal, and one score; but this time, it was the game-winner.

  • Kayleigh Tomasich connected on her second career goal at the 67:11 marker off the assist from Ana Guedes, her first point as a Wildcat.

  • Maria Alonso, fresh off a historic three-assist night that saw her give all the goals but not deliver, decided that she wanted to join the fun at the back of the net, her eighth goal on "The Hill" in addition to yet another assist.

  • The final goal of the afternoon may have been the sweetest as defender Kamsi Nwosu put one home in the 82nd minute for her first ever score as a collegiate student-athlete, having not contributed a goal in her 15 matches at Oklahoma Wesleyan a year ago.

  • Other noteworthy showings included Giselle Laing firing off a career-high four shots and two on-goal, Daniela Gomez setting her shots benchmark for the campaign at four, captain Allie Kyle getting her feet wet with her first shot-on-goal of 2024 and Pineville native / Buckeye High School product Christa-Ann Kees making her collegiate debut on the pitch.

Record Book Watch:

Career

  • Barriga Casallas made the jump onto the tail end of two separate lists Saturday, sliding into tenth on the career points ladder with 25 and into an eighth place stalemate with Laura Magleau (2021-22) for goals scored (10) while climbing one rung up the chute on the SOG chain to ninth at 34, bumping Marione Coronel (2007-10) down a peg.

  • Alonso has quickly made a name for herself as one of the fall's biggest breakout candidates, moving into a tie for fifth on the all-time assists leaderboard with Laura Perez Velasco (Fall 2021) at eight and would have been tied for tenth with the same player in terms of career points (24) if not for Casallas scoring her way in front of her with her pair of goals.

  • Monnet, the program's leader in points (85), goals (35), shots (160), shots-on-goal (94), and game-winners (8) padded her nearly insurmountable lead in all five statistics versus Paul Quinn.

  • Jaycee Woods knocked five points off her second-lowest goals against average to 1.36, upped her tenth-best saves total up one to 90, boosted her fourth-highest save percentage two-tenths of a percentage point to 72.6%, and locked down her tenth career shutout, third-most ever.

Team

  • The Orange and Blue's four-game unbeaten streak is tied for the fifth-longest in team history now, their 2024 point total which was not even among the top-ten coming into the day shot all the way up to seventh at 40 as did the goals tally that now sits at 14, the dozen assists are tied for sixth, and the fourth clean sheet of the season gives them sole possession of sixth as well.

Season

  • With ten games (at minimum) left on the docket, Alonso is on pace to challenge the single-season assist record, slotting in at number nine after the victory with her fifth of the campaign

  • Many single-game top-ten leaderboards have to be rewritten following the bludgeoning of the Tigers including the ninth-largest margin of victory (6), number of points (16), goals scored (6) and shots-on-goal fired (18) on top of the fifth-most shots (37).
