Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Maria Alonso had not one . . . not two . . . but a trio of assists, all in the first 30 minutes of the match as she recorded the much less common hat trick of helpers to give her seven as a student-athlete on top of three shots and a single shot-on-goal over 65 minutes.

  • Daniela Gomez's first career score turned out to provide the winning margin, putting it home in the 29th minute before chipping in an assist on Emma Monnet's first goal of the year on the final net-finder of the night. The Colombian collected three points and an equal amount of shots.

  • Monnet planted half of her match-most six shots on-target as she looks to be rounding into form with league play ramping up.

  • Giselle Laing joined Gomez in the first career goal party, tallying a score on just her third shot in 11 contests, however each of those have been aimed between the pipes.

  • Maryane Mafra got the Wildcats on the scoreboard about one-third of the way through the debut period, tickling the twine behind goalie Elena Moya, her fourth while donning the Orange and Blue to go along with two on-target shots out of three overall boots.

  • Jaycee Woods made five saves in seven chances (71.4%), pocketing the club's second triumph of the campaign.

Record Book Watch:

Career

  • With her 34th goal and subsequent 82nd / 83rd points, Monnet ran even further away with the program's top spot in both categories, now a dozen ahead of Martina Terra Garcia (Fall 2021) in the former statistic and has 30 more of the latter over the same individual.

  • Alonso's hat trick worth of assists saw a meteoric rise on that leaderboard, rising like a phoenix from two behind the tenth place slot all the way up a five-way tie for sixth.

Team

  • With their second win on top of a pair of ties (count as 0.5 wins), LCU has the eighth-highest number of victories in a single season as well as its sixth-longest unbeaten streak of three going back to its game with Wiley.

  • The four assists doubled their total output coming into Thursday, giving them eight in 2024, tied for seventh in school history.

Game

  • Lastly, Alonso became only the sixth Wildcat ever to rack up three or more assists in one match, joining Lindsey Jacobs, Taylor Shanas, Laura Perez Velasco, Terra Garcia, and Brittany McClung.

                    * The Spainiard is the first to enter the exclusive club since the day before Halloween in 2021.

Next:

  • The first winning streak of the Houle era is what LCU will be striving for on Saturday when a short-handed Paul Quinn squad rolls into Pineville for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
