Levi Hilborn Earns Second Career SAC Special Teams Player of the Week

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Louisiana Christian University football program excelled in all three phases of the game in its Sooner Athletic Conference and home opener on Saturday evening with Levi Hilborn doing a little bit of everything on his way to being named SAC Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time.

Hilborn, a junior kicker / punter from La Porte, Texas, flawlessly executed the Sean Payton Super Bowl Special, catching the Langston Lions napping by grounding the ball right into the waiting arms of Brandon Isaac on the second half's opening kickoff, propelling the Cats to a touchdown drive which put the game on ice.

The successful onside kick was the first time LCU had done so in six-and-a-half seasons, going all the way back to its American Southwest Conference days when it recovered one since the regular season finale in 2017 when the Wildcats pulled it off versus Howard Payne during a 61-38 triumph in Brownwood.

Against the visitors from Langston, Oklahoma, the Texan dropped a trio of punts inside the LU 20-yard line, bombed three kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks, and nailed a 42-yard field goal, all of which were new career-highs.

Football got its first taste of victory during its five-touchdown blowout of the Lions and will look to keep the party going on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas.
