Cats Split First Day Of Country Cajun Classic, Hit .300 In Win Over Ladies

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Louisiana Christian University volleyball program extended its team-best consecutive set winning streak to 13 by taking the opener vs. Howard Payne before dropping the next three.
 
The Orange and Blue then took out its frustrations on the unsuspecting tournament hosts, the Centenary (Louisiana) Ladies, outscoring them by a whooping 42 points in a 25-15, 25-9, 25-9 bludgeoning.

Wildcats Top Performers: 
 
  • Abby Revell has gotten back to where she was before she took the one-year hiatus, smashing 13 kills (4.33 p/s) while hitting .476 in the rout of Centenary and leading all Wildcats on the afternoon with 18 total (2.57 p/s) on top of swatting three blocks (two solo).
 
  • Jessica Smith could have been playing cards the way she was pulling service aces versus the Ladies, tying a career-best of five (1.67 p/s) in addition to digging up 13 (1.86 p/s) balls in the twin-bill.
 
  • Kierra Jones, who led the offense opposite the Yellowjackets with eight kills, was second to only Revell at 14 (2.00 p/s) and registering an efficient .303 percentage.
 
  • With double-figure assists in both matches, she has tallied ten or more assists 50 times while being a student-athlete on "The Hill" and also went for a double-double vs. HPU, number 21 in that category. She averaged 7.71 (54 total) assists per set including 17 digs (2.43 p/s) too.

  • Cother slid into the lucky seventh spot on the all-time digs list on Friday, totaling 454 during her tenure to date, jumping current Graduate Assistant Aniah Adams (2019-23), who had 444.
 
  • Kate Campbell moved up in a few areas of the block department, surging to eighth for total blocks (40) over Julie Bordeau (2022-23) and to fifth regarding solos (9), putting her in lockstep with her fellow Katie (Spell).
 
Season 
 
  • With the victory, LCU tied for the third-highest win total in a single-season, notching triumph five in match nine (55.6%) to move into a three-way stalemate with the fall 2021 and 2018 squads.
 
Game 
 
  • As a team, the Wildcats racked up 36 kills in 80 attempts compared to just 12 errors, resulting in an even .300 hitting percentage, the eighth-highest in school history.
