6/11/2024 12:00:00 PM

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University women's soccer program opened its Red River Athletic Conference slate with a massive blowout in front of the Wildcats faithful on a picture perfect Saturday night in CenLa, scoring the first four goals unanswered to derail the Generals of LSUA during a 6-1 offensive clinic.

The Basics:

  • Date:
    • September 16, 2023

  • Score:
    • (RV) Louisiana Christian – 6
    • LSU Alexandria – 1

  • Final Records:
    • Louisiana Christian (10-5-2, 8-3-2 Red River)
    • LSU Alexandria (16-6, 10-3 Red River)

Match Recap:

  • The victory was the third of a season-long seven-match winning streak after dropping the opener at the eventual NAIA Runner-Up #5 William Carey, evening up the all-time Red River Rivalry Series at 2-2-1 (50%) by laying the five-goal smackdown of the 2023 RRAC Tournament Champions.

  • LCU seemingly put every shot it took past goalkeeper Victoria Weber and into the back of the net, sporting a 2023-best 54.5% shot percentage as six of the Cats' 11 attempts dented the scoreboard.

  • Junior Emma Monnet recorded one of her two hat tricks in 2023 on her way to a regular season team-high seven points via three goals and an assist. Her scores came in the 13th, 29th, and 72nd minutes as her assist setup the night's final tally off the rocket by senior Alicia Gurrusquieta at the 76:34 mark.

  • Gurrusquieta notched her first and only multi-goal outing as a Wildcat with both of her shots tickling the twine in addition to an assist, racking up five points.

  • Junior Allie Kyle provided the lone goal from a student-athlete not named Monnet or Gurrusquieta, putting one between the pipes after taking the pass courtesy of junior Lindsey Jacobs, just shy of the 20th minute.

  • Jacobs, who logged an assist one week prior at Mobile, went on to make it five matchups in-a-row with at least one assist.

  • Junior Jaycee Woods, who had taken full control of the starting goalie position the week before, went the distance to earn win number three and stopping an equal number of potential goals (3).
