Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Nicholas Brunet wrapped up his career riding an on-base streak of a dozen consecutive, walking twice as one of the three Cats to reach more than once and scoring the team's singular run.

  • The second was leadoff hitter and everyday shortstop Adrian Aguilar, collecting a base hit and a base on balls as well.

  • The third and final player was the only man donning Orange and Blue to put together multiple hits, singling in back-to-back at-bats during the third and fifth frames.

  • Noah Gaspard showcased his rocket of a right arm as he gunned down not one but two would-be base stealers . . . GGC would not test him again.

Notes:

  • Louisiana Christian had made the NAIA Regionals once before back in 1987 as the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Regular Season Champions, but fell in both of their matchups, versus Grand Canyon (9-4) and Lubbock Christian (14-12) in Lubbock, Texas.

  • The ballclub's all-time record in the NAIA Regional round now sits at 2-4 (33.3%) with both coming this year versus Bushnell (6-4) and OUAZ (9-4).

Next:

  • Head Coach Mike Byrnes' student-athletes conclude the campaign with an overall record of 34-21 (61.8%) and a 17-13 (56.7%) mark in RRAC competition in addition to picking up two regional wins, two top-5 victories (both vs. #4 LSU Shreveport), one top-20 triumph (vs. #18 Mobile), a trio of wins over teams receiving votes (twice vs. Houston-Victoria, once vs. Loyola-New Orleans), and seven postseason victories between the Red River and NAIA Tournaments.
