Ladies Pick Up First Conference Win Since 2014 In Dominant Effort vs. Texarkana

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University women's tennis program snapped its nine-match slide by shutting out Texas A&M-Texarkana for its first ever win in the Red River Athletic Conference, claiming its fifth victory of the season with a landslide 7-0 blanking.
 
Their league win was the first of any kind for the team since March 21, 2014 versus Sul Ross State as members of the American Southwest Conference as they build upon their record number of overall wins since 2007-08 when the website's database ends right now.

  • #1 Patricia Principal Pineda knocked off Andrea Barcenas to get the ball rolling, topping the Eagles leading student-athlete by a score of 6-2, 71-6.
   
  • Court number three saw Alexandra Cedeno squeak one out opposite Andrea Castillo in the closest game of the morning as Castillo gained the early upper-hand (4-6) before Cedeno answered with a rally to take the final two (6-1 and 10-8).
 
  • Flight four witnessed Ana Sofia Ferrer Martinez also go the distance with the visiting Jaelee Young, keeping the sweep alive courtesy of a 4-6, 6-2, 10-4 decision.
 
  • #5 Elizaveta Mikhailova cruised through her assignment, dispatching Tatum Sikes with relative ease at 6-1 and 6-0.
 
  • Lastly, but not least, sixth on the scoresheet was Chloe Batterton who made quick work of Kenzie Feist in similar fashion to her teammate on five, leaving no doubt in the outcome (6-3, 6-3).
 
  • In doubles competition, Coelho Rodrigues and Mikhailova handled Castillo and Feist by a 6-1 margin on the second line while the duo of Batterton / Cedeno skunked Sikes / Young on the third flight (6-0) to secure the doubles point as well.

  • Head Coach Alexandra Starkova's women will attempt to start a winning streak on the heels of getting off the schneid, but it will not be east as #5 Xavier (Louisiana) invades campus at 9 a.m. on Saturday for the Home Finale.
