OMAHA, Neb. – The Louisiana Christian University football program has seen one of its wide receivers from the 2021 squad achieve his goal of playing professionally as Zion Williams landed himself a contract with the
National Arena League's
Omaha Beef, based out of the
Liberty First Credit Union Arena.
Â
Williams, a 5-foot-11, 185-pounder from Pineville, was selected as an All-American Southwest Honorable Mention at the conclusion of the 2019 campaign when he put together 536 receiving yards on 40 catches with four touchdowns.
Â
The hometown prospect produced eight touchdowns during his five seasons on "The Hill", hauling in 90 receptions for 1,269 yards in addition to 116 more coming via kickoff returns. His 68-yard return on September 4, 2021 against SAGU ended up being one of the top-50 longest among all qualifying kickoffs that year in the NAIA.
Â
The Beef are the 2023 Champions Indoor Football winners after running the table for a perfect 10-0 campaign in 2023, defeating the Salina Liberty in Champions Bowl VIII by a final of 50-30 before departing for the National Arena League beginning in 2024.
Â
Omaha has been a consistent contender across six leagues during its 23-season history, making the playoffs 18 times (78.3% of its seasons) with a pair of CIF Championships (2021 and 2023).
