Goff Drops 28 Points On Top-Seeded LSU Shreveport In RRAC Quarterfinals

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The #8 seed Louisiana Christian University women's basketball program was locked into a David vs. Goliath-esque matchup in the Quarterfinals of Red River Athletic Conference Tournament and while Princis Goff hurled many a stone at the beast, she could not overcome the #1 seed LSUS Pilots in a 90-47 decision.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Goff, named to the All-RRAC 1st Team Thursday night, practically produced all of the offensive momentum for the Cats vs. the Pilots, being responsible for a game-high 28 of the 47 points (59.6%) on the scoreboard as she looks to carry that momentum into 2024-25. Snubbed from RRAC Newcomer of the Year, she went 9-for-16 (56.3%) from the floor and made ten free throws in addition to five boards.

  • The 5-foot-5 Jakiya Thompson topped the club in rebounds against one of the tallest teams in the NAIA, hauling in six rebounds, a tied for team-most two assists, plus a steal.

  • All-RRAC Honorable Mentions Deja Tanks and Olivia Scott added seven points, seven rebounds, and a pair of dimes to the ledger while McKayla Price had multiple steals on top of the only LCU blocked shot.

Notes:

  • The women made the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament for the third consecutive season since moving to the NAIA level, but this was the first time the Cats had not taken its RRAC Quarterfinal matchup, having made the Semifinals the last two years before falling in that round to Our Lady of the Lake (2021-22) and the Pilots (2022-23).

  • For only the second time all season, despite not being known as a prominent three-point shooting squad, the Orange and Blue failed to hit a three-pointer.
