TYLER, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University basketball programs will have another week off to start 2025 after the tragic passing of Texas College's Head Men's Basketball Coach Walter Yates Jr. on December 20, 2024.
 
The Wildcats were originally scheduled to play the Steers inside Gus F. Taylor Gymnasium in Tyler, Texas for a Saturday twin-bill, however, Mr. Yates' funeral is planned for noon on that date in Houston.
 
The hoops squads will return to action on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 5:30/7:30 p.m. for its second meeting of the campaign with the Texas A&M-San Antonio Jaguars in the Alamo City.
 
The Louisiana Christian University athletics program sends its thoughts, prayers, and condolences to Mr. Yates' family and friends as well as the entire Texas College community regarding this loss.
