Sergio Pita Martin & Emma Monnet Named LCU Student-Athletes of the Week

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University athletics program would like to recognize men's soccer's Sergio Pita Martin and women's soccer's Emma Monnet as this week's LCU Student-Athletes of the Week.

Pita Martin, a senior winger / striker from Madrid, Spain, single-handedly willed the Wildcats to a pair of 1-0 victories at Jarvis Christian and vs. Texas College, scoring both of the club's goals on a pair of penalty kicks with the latter coming with only nine seconds left in the match to help the Cats escape with a much-needed three points. For his career, the former NJIT transfer now boasts the most PK goals in program history with five and his three successful scores in those situations in 2024 are tied with Fellipe Albuquerque's 2013 campaign for the most ever over a single-season.

Monnet, a senior forward / midfielder from Yzeure, Allier, France, continued her assault on the record books as the Wildcats ran roughshod over the Bulldogs and Steers on their way to a combined 12-0 margin of victory in its two contests. The French phenom had the day of her life on Saturday in Alexandria, exploding for a career-high 14 shots (fourth-most all-time), nine points (fifth-most all-time), seven shots-on-goal (fourth-most all-time), and four goals (third-most all-time) en route to her fifth career hat trick, adding an assist for some extra sweet icing on the proverbial cake. She also logged an assist at Jarvis Christian.

Both teams can make a strong push towards a regular season championship this week as they each host Texas A&M-Texarkana on Thursday and LSU Shreveport on Saturday with each squad facing one club receiving votes in the NAIA top-25 apiece, Texarkana women and LSUS men.
