PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University athletics program would like to recognize women's soccer's Maria Alonso and men's soccer's Lucas Lima as this week's LCU Student-Athletes of the Week, the former of which being crowned RRAC Offensive Player of the Week.

Alonso, a senior midfielder from Boadilla del Monte, Madrid, Spain, led the Wildcats with four points and two goals including the game-winner at Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday in addition to logging a career-high four shots-on-goal against the Saints. She made a bunch of moves up the record books over the past week in San Antonio, breaking a tie with Laura Magleau (2021-22) and Martina Terra Garcia (Fall 2021) for the most penalty kick goals in school history after adding her third career PK to the tally at Texas A&M-San Antonio Thursday afternoon, which in turn made her the tenth women's soccer student-athlete to log double-digit goals for her tenure and just the second Wildcat with multiple PKs in a single-season. The 11th goal of her career vs. OLLU tied her with Jayme Harmon (2013-15) for eighth on the all-time leaderboard along with adding her name to the top-ten list for total shots (71), rising to ninth on the SOG ladder (36) and third regarding go-ahead scores (3) in addition to becoming one of only a dozen women to notch multiple game-winners in one year.

Lima, a junior right back from Rio Claro, Sao Paulo, Brazil, assisted on all three of the Wildcats' goals on the road trip through the Alamo City, topping the team in points (3) and registering his third career multi-assist outing at Our Lady of the Lake. He became the fifth current player to land on the all-time matches played leaderboard as he tied with Jason Rodriguez (2017-21), Nathan Gautreaux (2014-17), Trevor Carville (2003, 2005-07), and Andrew Magel (2005-07) for the final spot at 58. The 2023 All-RRAC First Teamer leapt up to second place on the career assists list as he has now served up a dozen during his time on "The Hill" while his five for the season ranks sixth in club history.

Alonso and friends have sealed home-field advantage in the RRAC Quarterfinal round with their sights still set on an outside chance of an outright regular season championship, which would require wins at North American on Thursday (1 p.m.) and (RV) Xavier on Saturday (noon) as well as one of either Texas College or Jarvis Christian upsetting LSU Shreveport.

Any points scored in the regular season's final week would be enough for the men to double-dip with the women in terms of not having to leave campus for the Quarterfinals as they sit on the cusp (fourth place) with trips to Sugar Land (North American) and New Orleans (Xavier) on tap.
