Wildcats Snap Out Of Slump With Emphatic Win Over Bulldogs

 
PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University volleyball program came into the evening mired in a six-game losing skid but found new life behind a raucous homecoming crowd to withstand a determined Jarvis Christian squad, pulling off a confidence-boosting sweep.

  • Before she exited with an injury, Megan O'Neal was potentially on pace to lead the match or at least the team in kills, clubbing nine (3.00 p/s) over approximately two-and-a-half sets on top of a pair of blocks.
 
  • Katie Spell wound up being the Cats' kills leader, collecting 11 (3.67 p/s) while hitting .286 as well as a block of her own.
 
  • Kate Campbell was breathing down her teammate's neck at ten kills (3.33 p/s) and was a more efficient swinger over her 18 attempts (.444), chipping in a block assist too.
 
  • Kierra Jones was as well-rounded as they come, tallying a season-high five digs (1.67 p/s), a tied for match-most two aces (0.67 p/s), plus a game-best four blocks (1.33 p/s) with a solo scattered among three assists.
 
  • Emma Cother was brilliant in the club's return to campus, averaging just shy of ten assists per set (9.67 p/s, 29 total) and digging up a half-dozen balls (2.00 p/s) from hitting the court.
 
  • Madison Danley needs just one more seven-dig outing (2.33 p/s) before winning the jackpot, tying her season-high for the second straight match to go along with a tied for career-high three assists (1.00 p/s).
 
  • Angelina Medrano mainly came on as a service specialist and she crushed her role, picking up two crucial aces towards the end of the sets to close out JCU.

  • Coach Salloum's ladies have won ten or more games in three consecutive years and are tied with the 2022 team for the second-most victories in program history at 11.
 
  • The Orange and Blue have crossed the 1,000-point marker (1,019), putting them in fourth for a single campaign whole their 104 total blocks also ranks as the fourth-highest.
 
Season 
 
  • Jones jumped onto one leaderboard and moved up another, entering the single-season points category at tenth (189.5) and rising to seventh regarding service aces (25).
 
  • Cother is among the top-five for aces after putting one on the floor Friday, sliding into the fourth slot at 28.
 
  • Spell garnered her 24th block assist of the campaign, knocking a logjam of people off the board at ten as she's now tied for ninth with Michelle Iroh (2022).

  • A chance to return to the .500 mark on the season presents itself at noon on Saturday as LCU hopes to strengthen its conference tournament chances if they can take down the Dogs once again.
