PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University women's soccer program surrendered three unanswered goals to begin the second half after a scoreless first 45 minutes, providing a score at the 70-minute mark, but it was too little, too late.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Maryane Mafra was responsible for avoiding the shutout, receiving the ricochet off the post and scoring at the exact moment the 71st minute began, her second goal of 2024 and the fifth at LCU.

  • Maria Alonso's free kick expertise was the driving force behind that goal, placing the ball exactly where it needed to be for her strikers to finish the deal.

  • Emma Monnet and Elisa Lopez produced five of the team's eight (62.5%) SOGs as Monnet logged three over four shots while Lopez placed both of her attempts on-goal.

  • Daniela Gomez took a trio of attempts but could not log accuracy and Lena Cogghe sung the same tune on her singular shot.

  • Jaycee Woods saw her 450+ minute shutout streak go down at the 54:04 point of the contest, saving two would-be goals from slipping by.

Record Book Watch:

Career

  • Alonso's point scored and Barriga Casallas being shutout from the point category, the Spaniard broke the tie with the Colombian for sole possession of eighth on the leaderboard at 29.

  • Casallas wiggled free of her own deadlock regarding shots-on-goal, moving one ahead of Anna Champagne (2011-14) for seventh with her 40th.

  • Woods stayed put at tenth on the career saves ladder, however, she did reach a milestone by hitting the century mark at 100 saves as a Wildcat.

Team

  • In terms of shots taken, the collective unit has the fourth-most by a LCU squad with 196 while 101 of those have been on-target, the fifth-highest number.

  • Corner kicks reached a nice round number of 40, jumping up three spots from tenth to seventh.

Season

  • Alonso's eighth assist of the year places her officially among the top-three wing women for a single-season at Louisiana Christian, tying her with Laura Perez Velasco's lone campaign on "The Hill" in the fall of 2021.

  • Monnet's scoring streak might have come to a halt, but she did climb the single-season ladder in both shots (44) and SOG (25), ranking eighth and fourth, respectively.
