Wildcats Top Performers:

  • It was a tough call for the day's top offensive standout, but Devin Briscoe might have had the strongest case, rushing for a career-high among games against NAIA competition with 167 yards, scored his seventh career multi-touchdown outing on the ground, and broke off a new career-long 66-yard rush as his two scores came in 66 and 35-yard chunks.

  • The former Nicholls State transfer averaged nearly a first down and-a-half per carry at 16.7 on just ten totes, gaining positive yardage each time he touched the rock.

  • Sal Palermo III was the other big-time performer for OC David Feaster's arsenal, tying his personal-best of four passing touchdowns while netting 233 yards on only 13 completions.

  • Defensive Coordinator Tyson Andrus' bunch had just as many stars that stepped up including Kavin Touriac who set a new career-high with a game-best eight tackles to go along with a pass breakup, quarterback hurry, and a TFL.

  • Pop McGhee deemed his side of the field as a "No Fly Zone", batting down a career-most three passes to give him a dozen on the year (6th-most in NAIA before Saturday) plus his sixth career pick.

  • Hayden Seneca must have thought the ball was a mosquito because he constantly swatted down potential receptions with three PBUs on top of a forced fumble.

  • Ethan Christman made two grabs for 45 yards and two touchdowns, matching his career total for scores in the first half alone, including a Sportscenter Top 10 worthy, one-handed grab in the back of the end zone to put the Cats ahead by seven, 13-6.

  • Mason Ingram might have sneaked some metal into the boot of his cleat because he was launching rockets all day long, amassing a season-high 253 punt yards on top of personal-bests for punts inside the 20 (3), and 50-plus yarders (2).

  • Rashawn West was not known for his receiving abilities coming into the afternoon with four career catches in 34 contests but proved that he has the skills to be a bigger factor, taking a seam route 73 yards to the house as one of his two receptions.

  • Putting a bow on the laundry list of playmakers were Jacob Ganote and Taevion Cunningham as the former caught a career-most five balls for 68 yards and his fourth score of the campaign while the latter found paydirt for the ninth time on the ground to add to his team-leading total.

Notes:

  • The defense's ten pass breakups, six turnovers, four forced fumbles, and three interceptions were all season-highs.

  • Despite entering the day as the NAIA's leader in total sacks with 33 and the visitors from Waxahachie, Texas dropping back to pass 39 times, LCU did not register a single quarterback takedown.

Next:

  • The Orange and Blue will honor its numerous senior student-athletes prior to its Senior Day scrimmage on Saturday vs. John Melvin with kickoff scheduled for noon.
