WACO, Texas – After scoring in both matches of the opening weekend of action this season and assisting on another goal, (RV) Louisiana Christian University women's soccer's
Emma Monnet earned the season's first Red River Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week award, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Monnet, a sophomore forward and midfielder from Yzeure, Allier, France, assisted on LCU's first goal of the 2022 season as she found
Laura Magleau open for the opening goal against Belhaven on Saturday afternoon. Those two flipped the roles for that match's second goal as Magleau's pass got Monnet open for a shot that found the back of the net for a 2-0 lead in what would eventually be a 4-3 win over the Blazers. The next day, her run met a pass from
Jazmine Jamison and she scored in the 41
st minute to give the Wildcats a 4-0 lead against Lyon in what would eventually become a 5-0 victorious score line over the Scots.
In the two matches, Monnet took a total of six shots and put three of them on target, two of which found the back of the net. After the opening weekend, she leads the team with five points on the season. This is Monnet's first career conference weekly award.
Monnet and the rest of the (RV) Wildcats (2-0) return to action on Sunday with a road exhibition match against NCAA Division I side Southern University. Kickoff of Sunday's match against the Jaguars (1-2-1) is set for 1:00 P.M. at Jaguar Park in Baton Rouge.
