PINEVILLE, La. – Following a month away from its home park, the Louisiana Christian University softball team returned to the friendly confines in emphatic fashion, never trailing in a doubleheader sweep of Jarvis Christian as the Wildcats knocked off the Bulldogs 9-2 and 6-0 Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Park.
Game 1 – Jarvis Christian 2, Louisiana Christian 9
LCU went small ball to open the scoring in the bottom of the first inning.
Emma Hunt started the game with a walk. She then stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by
Lexie Marks, and then scored on another bunt perfectly laid down the first base line by
Olivia Coaker for the 1-0 lead.
With the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the third inning,
Desiree Squires brought them all home as she belted a pitch over the center fielder's head for a three-run double. Up next was
Bella Houck, and she decided to trade places with Squires, taking a pitch over center field as well for a double to score Squires for a 5-0 Wildcat lead through three complete.
Jarvis looked to rally in the fourth, scoring a pair of two-out runs on back-to-back singles, making an earlier error in the frame sting the Wildcats a bit, to cut the LCU lead down to 5-2.
The Wildcats got one of those runs back in the fifth inning as
Lexie Marks started the inning with a double and
Olivia Coaker followed her with a triple to center, scoring Marks, for a 6-2 LCU lead.
LCU made sure there would be no last inning comeback, scoring three insurance runs in the sixth to get the game on the brink of a run-rule result. With the bases loaded and one out,
Jana Taylor found the right-center gap, allowing both
Brianna Lopez and
Bella Houck to score. Breanna Corkern's fly ball to center was enough to allow
Meredith Perry to take up from third and touch home safely for the game's final score.
KayeLea Dearmon went a perfect three-for-three at the plate with a double in game one.
Bella Houck went two-for-three with a double, a RBI, and a run scored.

Olivia Coaker went one-for-two with a triple, a walk, two RBI, and a run scored.
Lexie Marks went one-for-one with a double and a run scored.

Game 2 – Jarvis Christian 0, Louisiana Christian 6
While it took a full inning for the scoring to get started in game two, it started with a bang as
Kayla Dauthier led off the bottom of the second inning by crushing a pitch to straight away center field for a solo home run.
LCU extended the lead in the third inning as
Jordan Dauthier led off with a single back up the middle. She then stole second, moved to third on a passed ball, and came home on a
Maci Rozas base hit to make it 2-0 Wildcats.
The Wildcats got further away from the Bulldogs in the fifth as
Olivia Coaker came up with runners on second and third and two outs and dropped a base hit in left which scored
Maci Rozas to make it 3-0 LCU.
In the sixth, LCU took advantage of a miscue early in the bottom of the frame to put the game out of reach. With the bases loaded and two outs, pinch hitter
Jaclyn Deason ripped a pitch to left-center, clearing the bags of all three previous base runners for a 6-0 Wildcat lead, and the game's final runs.
Maci Rozas finished game two going two-for-two at the plate with a RBI, two stolen bases, and a run scored.
Olivia Coaker went two-for-three with a pair of doubles and a run scored.
Kayla Dauthier's one hit in her three at bats was her fourth home run of the season, exactly one month after her most recent dinger. It accounted for her lone RBI and run scored in the contest.
Jaclyn Deason's lone plate appearance in the contest resulted in a double and three RBI.
Miah Broussard (5-1) threw a complete game shutout, going all seven innings in the circle and gave up six hits with no runs, no walks, and eight strikeouts.
The Wildcats (18-11, 7-3 RRAC) head back on the road for a quick trip to Texarkana for a pair of conference games against #14 Texas A&M-Texarkana. First pitch of Tuesday's doubleheader against the #14 Eagles on Tuesday is set for 3:00 P.M. at Bramlett Field.
