Lady Wildcats Finish Preview Day Weekend with Pair of Wins over Texas College

LCU Overpowers Steers Offensively with Two Three-Set Sweeps Over Weekend

PINEVILLE, Louisiana—The Louisiana Christian University volleyball team (6-4) dominated the floor against Texas College (0-8) in pair of matches on Friday Oct. 7 (25-15, 25-13, 25-7) and Saturday Oct. 8 (25-17, 25-13, 25-21) in H.O. West Field House.

Louisiana Christian Wildcats 3 (25, 25, 25), Texas College Steers 0 (15, 13, 7)

On Friday, the Wildcats overpowered the Steers offensively in a three-set sweep. LCU finished the match with 43 total kills, while Texas College finished with four.

Sophomore Kierra Jones led LCU in kills with 13. Seniors Abby Revell and Aniah Adams were not far behind with seven kills each.

Freshman Jessica Smith led the Wildcats in assists with 12, and junior Leah Stamps led in digs with 12.

Louisiana Christian Wildcats 3 (25, 25, 25), Texas College Steers 0 (17, 13, 21)

On Saturday, the Lady Wildcats again defeated the Lady Steers in three sets.

Aniah Adams led the Cats in kills with 10 kills, with Abby Revell and Kierra Jones finishing with six each.

Jessica Smith led the Wildcats with five aces, four of which were during LCU's first six points of the second set.

Freshman Emma Cother led the team in assists with 15, and Leah Stamps led the team in digs with 15.

Over the span of both matches, the Lady Wildcats gave the spotlight to a few of their freshmen: Hannah Riggens had a total of three kills and one dig, Isabelle Phillips finished with a kill and a dig, and Morgan Mills logged 17 assists and five digs.

The Lady Wildcats (6-4, 5-1 RRAC) will look to lengthen their 2-game win streak as they travel to San Antonio, Friday Oct. 14 to face Our Lady of the Lake University (11-4, 8-0 RRAC) in a crucial Red River Athletic Conference matchup with games at 7 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday in Mabee Gymnasium.
