Wildcats Dominate Second Half Against TAMUSA for First RRAC Win

LC Scores Three Second Half Goals to Knock Off Jaguars

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana College men's soccer team found itself in an early hole, but a late first half goal led to a cavalcade of second half goals as the Wildcats knocked off the Texas A&M-San Antonio Jaguars 4-1 to pick up their first in-conference win as members of the Red River Athletic Conference.

The Wildcats had the run of play from the opening kick, but TAMUSA hit LC on the counterattack and buried the match's opening goal in the third minute to put the Jaguars up 1-0.

It took more than a quarter of an hour for the Wildcats to respond, but that finally did as the ball got to the foot of Nangee Philip and he raced his way down the left side and got into the box, beating the GK with a shot up high to level the score at 1-1 in the 27th minute. The score would remain that way to halftime.

Shortly after the clock passed the hour mark, LC finally got on top to stay. After winning a corner kick, Alvaro Tudanca sent the ball into play, which got onto the foot of Adrian Amoros Navarro. Amoros Navarro returned the ball to Tudanca, who had an open lane and found the back of the net to put the Wildcats up 2-1 in the 61st minute.

With the game still a bit uncomfortably close, the Wildcats put it away with two quick scores inside the match's last 15 minutes. In the 80th minute, Adrian Amoros Navarro found his way onto the ball and worked into the box and scored to put LC up 3-1.

Four minutes later, Arturo Riestra Torrejon made sure LC got the full three points as he got the ball on his foot, dribbled down the left side past the defense, got into the box, and went past the goalkeeper inside the far post for the match's final goal.

Adrian Amoros Navarro took four shots with two on target to score his third goal of the season while also picking up his fourth assist on the year. Arturo Riestra Torrejon put all three shots he took on frame and collected his fifth goal on the season. Nangee Philip's fourth goal of the season came on his lone shot on frame out of three total attempts. Alvaro Tudanca also took three shots, two on frame, and netted his fourth goal as the season as well in the match. The Wildcats took 29 shots in the match, putting 11 on target.

Luke Craigie (2-2) again went the distance in net for the Wildcats, collecting four saves to pick up the victory between the pipes for LC.

The Wildcats (6-3, 1-2 RRAC) earned their first win in conference play as a member of the Red River Athletic Conference. LC looks to make it two in a row on Friday night with Our Lady of the Lake comes in for a conference contest. Kickoff against the Saints (3-3-1, 2-0-1 RRAC) is set for 6:30 P.M. at Wildcat Field.
