LONGVIEW, Texas – The Louisiana College women's basketball team held LeTourneau to just two points in the fourth quarter of the Lady Wildcats penultimate game of the season, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit to the Yellow Jackets in a 77-61 loss Thursday night at Solheim Arena.
Maya Washington their only lead of the game as she split a pair of free throws to open the game's scoring just more than a minute into the contest. But as the Wildcats tried to keep the game close in the first half, the Yellow Jackets slowly started to pull away late in the second quarter, using a 12-2 run over the final 3:30 of the second quarter to build up a 16-point lead at the break.
That run continued deep into the third quarter, a quarter that saw LeTourneau build up a lead as big as 40 points during the period. But, even faced with the large deficit, the Lady Wildcats continued to fight, and their fight showed up on the scoreboard as the deficit started to collapse quickly during the fourth quarter as the Yellow Jackets struggled to make any shots at all while LC made shot after shot while getting to the free throw line. The Lady Wildcats outscored the Yellow Jackets 24-2 over the game's final ten minutes to gain some momentum heading into Saturday's season finale.
