Women's Tennis Falls to Centenary



The Louisiana College Women's Tennis team returned to action this past Sunday on March 10, 2019 as they took on Centenary College. The women have been struggling this season as they sat at a 2-5 overall record and were 0-1 in conference play, but despite their best efforts for a win, the ladies were defeated with a 5-4 score. 

While the ladies fought hard, they got off to a poor start in doubles action. Emma Hixson and Molly Edelman kicked things off and were handled as they were defeated 8-1. Mckenna Raines and Chasity Som followed, but were shut out with an 8-0 score. Caitlyn Scheibal and Diana Soto tried to end things on a positive note and get the Wildcats a point in doubles, but they too were shutout and the ladies went down 0-3 early. 

Singles action saw some glimmers of hope for the ladies. Emma Hixson started things off by dominating both matches with a 6-1 score in the first and a 6-2 score in the second. Round two saw Molly Edelman get defeated in both matches, but Mckenna Raines brought the Wildcats within three as she took wins in both her matches. Rounds four and five saw Chasity Scheibal and Chasity Som both win their respective matches brining the ladies within one point of a tie. It all came down to Diana Soto, but she was unfortunately shutout in both matches with a 6-0 score and the ladies lost the series with a 5-4 score. 

The ladies will be traveling to Shreveport, Louisiana on March 23, 2019 to take on Centenary College. The matches will start at 9 A.M. and then the ladies will join the men as they travel to Marshall, Texas to take on American Southwestern Conference rival East Texas Baptist University.
