Mitchell Named Track Athlete of the Week

Louisiana College's Rami Mitchell has been chosen as the American Southwest Conference track athlete of the week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. This is the first weekly award for the Wildcats this season, following their second meet of the year last weekend.

The Wildcats competed in the McNeese State Cowboy Relays over the weekend with Mitchell competing in four different track events, three team and one individual. Rami turned in a time of 12.82 in the 100 meters, taking 12th overall among the competition. In the team events she was a member of the fifth place 4x100 relay team that had a time of 51.23 seconds. The 4x200 team had a time of 1:49.27 and the 4x400 run was 4:22.79, with Mitchell running in each of those relays as well. Mitchell improved her 100 meter time almost a full second from the Strawberry Relays a week ago and helped show an 11 second improvement in the 4x400 relay.
