The Louisiana College men looked to continue their season dominance as they took up play in the American Southwestern Conference against Belhaven University in a rescheduled game from a week ago. While Belhaven tried their best, they proved to not be able to keep up with the Wildcats on either side of the ball as LC cruised to 93-61 road victory.
The first half saw back and forth action throughout, but Belhaven just simply could not make it close with the Wildcats. LC jumped out to a 22-3 advantage within the first five minutes of the game. The offense was on fire as they went 17-for-30 from the field, 5-for-11 from the three-point line, and 8-for-12 from the free throw line. This first half surge saw the Wildcats going into halftime with a 47-32 lead.
While 15 points seemed like an achievable deficit to come back from for Belhaven, they just simply could not keep up with a Wildcats offense that picked up right where it left off in the first half. The Wildcats managed to put up another 46 points on the board while Belhaven could only manage 29. This resulted in a 93-61 blowout win for the Cats.
History was almost made as senior Devon Washington went an outstanding 11-for-12 from the field and managed to snag a double-double as he went on to score 23 points and 10 rebounds. Had he not missed his one shot attempt, Washington would have tied an ASC record for field goal percentage in a game. Washington wasn't the only one with double digit scoring, he was accompanied by Jaylen Rhone who had 14 points and Kae'ron Baker putting up 10 of his own.
The men look to continue conference play as they take on LeTourneau University this Thursday at H.O. West Fieldhouse at 7:30 P.M.
