Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Brandon Murphy

Women's Tennis Falls Short at Home

The Louisiana College women's tennis teams returned to action this past weekend as they hosted two teams over the weekend to start home action. Their February 22nd game against John Brown University was cancelled, but the ladies still got to take on Xavier University and Louisiana State University Shreveport on February 24th in which they came up short on both.

XAVIER

The ladies simply could muster zero offense against Xavier. Emma Hixson and Molly Edelman started doubles action, but were shut out 8-0. Mckenna Raines and Chasity Som immediately followed and while they scored a point, they eventually lost the match 8-1. Caitlyn Scheibal and Diana Soto ended the doubles action and saw no success as they lost 8-0.

Singles went even worse for the ladies as nobody could score a single point in any round to win a match. Once all the points were tallied, the ladies took a crushing 9-0 series defeat to Xavier.

LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY SHREVEPORT

The lady Wildcats saw a little more success against LSUS as they managed to put up 3 total points in the series, but fell short with a score of 6-3.

The first series of doubles saw Emma Hixson and Molly Edelman lose 8-1, Mckenna Raines and Chasity Som followed and while they fought hard, they fell short with a 8-5 score. Caitlyn Scheibal and Diana Soto won the next round due to opponent withdrawal.

The ladies secured a couple of singles wins as Que'eria Hampton dominated both rounds with a score of 6-0 in the first round and 6-1 in the second. Diana Soto also secured a point for the Cats as she won her singles match due to opponent withdrawal.

While it went better than the Xavier series, the lady Wildcats fell short to LSUS with a final overall score of 6-3. This brings the lady Wildcats do a dismal 2-5 overall record.

The ladies will be back in home action soon as they take on Louisiana State University Alexandria this Wednesday at their home tennis courts in Pineville, Louisiana at 4:00 P.M. The ladies need a win and they will be looking for it this week. For general athletics new follow @LC_Wildcats on Twitter or like Louisiana College Wildcats on Facebook.
