The Louisiana College Lady Wildcats traveled to Tyler, Texas Thursday afternoon for an exhibition match against the University of Texas at Tyler. The Patriots took the game 2-0, but the game did not count as a conference contest, a previous American Southwest Conference team, that is moving up to Division two athletics. The Wildcats play their final game of the season against the University of the Ozarks Saturday afternoon Saturday afternoon in Clarksville, Arkansas.
The Patriots dominated the game, but wet field conditions allowed both sides to compete. Holding more players back to defend the Cats relied on counterattacks to create offensive threats.
The Patriots took the lead in the 17th minute, earning a corner kick and found a Patriot in the box and headed in a shot into the upper 90, giving
Haley Clark no chance to save it.
Tyler would extend their lead in the 63rd minute, playing a through ball and connecting with another play, finishing inside the 18-yard box past Clark.
The Cats managed to enter into the final third but were quickly met by defenders preventing a real chance to score in the run of play.
It was not until the second half that the Cats were able to record a shot, two shots by Caitlyn Scheibel, both off of set pieces and on target.
