The Louisiana College Lady Wildcats played their final game of the season against the University of the Ozarks Saturday afternoon in Clarksville, Arkansas. The Cats took the game in the second overtime with an excellent finish by
Molly Edelman, 1-0. The Ladies finish the season on a high note and return home to start preparations for the 2019 season.
Both teams did not start fast from the kick-off, the game started to speed up halfway through the half. Both teams had three shots,
Rami Mitchell's shot was the only one on goal for the Cats, while
Haley Clark had to make two saves.
Ozarks' offense opened up in the second half, with eight shots to LC's two. The Cats dodged a bullet in the 85th minute when Ozarks' shot hit two posts and then bounced out. Then minutes later, the Cats were again lucky, but this time Clark crucially saved a low driven shot to keep the score level and send the game into overtime.
The Wildcats were ready to end the season with a win.
Molly Edelman had three shots during the overtime periods and with a left footed shot in the 105th minute, won the game. Seconds earlier, Ozarks fouled LC just outside the box on LC's left side, Edelman fired in a shot, but it hit the wall and bounced back at her, then fired again and this time beat the keeper to her far post. The LC players began to cheer and run to Edelman to congratulate her on her goal and the victory.
The next step for the Cats is off-season workouts and training sessions later in the spring semester.
