The Louisiana College lady Wildcats welcomed in-state rival Centenary College ladies for a nonconference mid-week matchup at Wildcat Field Tuesday afternoon.
A comeback from the 10 man Cats brought the game to a crazy finish with a late goal by Centenary to finish 3-2.
The Cats fell down a man in the 19th minute after a heated moment between a Wildcat and Ladies player resulted in a red card resulting in her dismissal.
The Ladies used the advantage and scored first in the 24th minute behind a well-placed shot by Kyra Montes beating
Haley Clark to her left side.
The determined Cats did not give up and in the 32nd minute, leveled the game with a one time finish by
Ashlynn Folse. Working the ball forward,
Larisa Soliz found Folse with a perfectly weighted pass past the last defender, making it easy for Folse to score.
The tie did not last long; the Ladies capitalized off of a mistake by Clark in the 41st minute. Clark did not clear the corner kick and Montes chested in the loose ball for her second score of the night.
The game would be a tug-a-war battle until the 86th minute when Folse tied the game with a right-footed blast from a tough angle. Gaining possession and quickly counterattacking,
Maylen Mire found Folse just inside the edge of the box and after taking a touch, hit the roof of the net with her shot.
The game was tied but far from over. With less than five minutes to play both sides were throwing everything in to leave with the win.
The Ladies unraveled LC's plans with a turnover inside their box and Montes getting her hat-trick. An errant pass but an LC defender gave Montes all she needed to turn to goal and place her shot past the diving Clark to seal the lead in the 89th minute.
Restarting play, LC pushed hard towards the goal. Soliz found a pocket of space and shot, but it could not beat Avery Sanderson ending the Cat attack and game.
Folse finished with two goals, three shots and two on goal, Soliz had one shot, one on goal, and an assist,
Molly Edelman had three shots with one on goal, and
Val Rodriguez had one shot and Mire had one assist. Clark finished with four saves.
The Cats will try and bounce back with Hardin-Simmons and McMurry this Thursday and Saturday returning to American Southwest Conference play at Wildcat Stadium.
