Men Play in Must Win Scenario

The Louisiana College men enter a five game home stand in essentially what is a must win situation. The Wildcats sit in the fifth spot in the ASC East 3.0 games behind ETBU for the final tournament spot out of the East. The Tigers take on UT Tyler on Thursday and then LeTourneau on Saturday before a matchup with the Wildcats next Monday. The Wildcats will need wins on Thursday and Saturday against LeTourneau and Tyler and have ETBU lose to those teams to set up a chance to tie the Tigers for fourth place on Monday. 

LeTourneau | 16-4 (9-3)  1st ASC East

3067The Yellowjackets pushed their conference best winning steak to 12 straight games with their win over the Wildcats on Saturday.  The Yellowjackets have  only one player, Alec Colhoff, that ranks in the top 15 in scoring in the ASC at 15.2 points per game, but have a total of five player that average more than 10 points per game this season.  LeTourneau is outscoring their opponents by a conference best 9.5 points per game, and have the conferences third best free throw percentage (73.4%), field goal percentage (46.4%), and 3-point shooting percentage (37.2%).

UT Tyler | 14-6 (8-4)  2nd ASC East

2519UT Tyler will take on ETBU in Marshall on Thursday before heading to Pineville for Saturday's matchup with the Wildcats. The Patriots are on a six game winning streak entering Thursday and have won seven of their last eight games. The Patriots rank in the middle of the pack in terms of scoring at 79.1 points per game but have the conferences best defensive unit, only allowing 73.7 points to their opponents this season. The rank fourth in the conference in field goal shooting at 46.3% and eighth in free throw percentage making 70.2% of their shots from the line. Their leading scorer is also their leader in rebounds, junior forward Melvin Anthony, who puts in 13.3 points per game and pulls down 7.5 rebounds per game on the season.

Louisiana College | 4-13 (1-10)  5th ASC East

5201The Wildcats enter the week in a must win situation if they have hopes of earning a spot in the ASC Tournament.  Coming off their lowest shooting percentage of the season LC will need to win at least three of their next five games to have any hope of getting into the fourth spot out of the ASC East.  LC ranks next to last in the conference in scoring at 74.8 points per game and seventh in scoring defense allowing 79.6 points to their opponents.  The Wildcats have struggled from the free throw line this year ranking next to last in free throw percentage and fell from fourth to seventh in team field goal percentage after last week. Raheem Regis has been the Wildcats most consistent offensive weapon all season continuing to lead the team in scoring and rebounding on the season averaging 17.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Regis ranks sixth in the conference in both categories.  Taylan Grogan, who missed a game last week for the first time this year, is averaging 10.5 points per game.
