Box Score

The Louisiana College volleyball team played their second rematch of the weekend on Saturday afternoon as they took on the University of Texas at Tyler on the Patriots home court. The Patriots showed why they are one of the top teams in the conference, handing the Wildcats a 3-0 loss, winning 25-8, 25-15, 25-10. LC participates in the second American Southwest Conference crossover weekend next Friday and Saturday in Abilene, Texas.

The match started slowly for the Wildcats as UTT got out to an 8-2 advantage quickly. A Patriot attack error and a kill from Jaslyn Bright slowed the momentum only partially as the Patriots continued to extend their lead, going ahead 19-4 before LC scored another point. A pair of Tyler aces and kills secured them the final few points they needed to take the first set with a convincing 25-8 score line.

The Patriots continued their solid play into the second set, getting the first four points before Sadi Jones got the Wildcats on the board with a kill. Later in the set, the Wildcats got some help from the Patriots with three straight errors following another Jones kill for a four point run of their own. Another five point run later got LC back within five points, but the deficit was too great for the Wildcats to overcome, falling 25-15 in the second set.

The third set was all Patriots early as they took a 15-3 lead in the set. Zharian Maxmillion and Paris Babino got kills to give LC a little spark of life, but Tyler quickly extinguished it with six-point run to go ahead 21-6. The Wildcats scored points on kills from Bright and Jones before the set ended at 25-10 in the Patriots favor.

Jaslyn Bright led LC with seven kills and 11 digs and Sadi Jones finished with six kills. Paris Babino had double-digit assists again with 11 and Olivia Huval finished with 10 digs in the match.

The Wildcats play Concordia University on Friday in their first of three matches in the second ASC Crossover weekend. They then take on Sul Ross State University and McMrry University to finish the weekend on Saturday.  For more on Louisiana College volleyball follow them on Twitter @LC_wvolleyball or like them on Facebook.
