Box Score

The Louisiana College volleyball team experienced yet another first on Friday evening as they made their first trip to American Southwest Conference power University of Texas at Dallas, but it was also their first rematch with a team they had played before. The Wildcats have come quite a way since their first meeting with the Comets but they still have room to grow as UTD won in three sets, 25-9, 25-12, 25-19. LC travels to the University of Texas at Tyler for their next match on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats started well in the first set, taking a 2-1 lead on a kill by Jaslyn Bright and a Comet attack error, but from that point on it would be all Comets. UTD went on an 18-2 run to take complete control of the opening set. Three LC attack errors and four services aces were key contributors to the lengthy dominance. Sadi Jones found two late kills in the set, but the Comets ended things with five straight points to take the opening frame.

The second set was a better effort for the Wildcats, but UTD's experience would give them the edge once again in the second set. Three more kills from Jones got the Wildcats within a few at 11-6, but the Comets soared again with an 8-0 run to all but put the second set away. The Wildcats got kills from Jones, Jaslyn Bright, and Brennen Parker before the set ended, but it would be UTD taking the second 25-12.

LC continued to battle in the third, despite the 2-0 match deficit. The teams traded points on alternating serves from the time it was a 3-3 game until it stood tied at 10-10. A quick run of four points by the Comets gave them a little breathing room, but a timeout by head coach Brittany Salloum, settled the team and they climbed back within two points at 15-13, thanks to a kill from Bright and an ace by libero Olivia Huval.

The two-point lead for the Comets wasn't huge, but it was enough for them to gain some momentum for the rest of the set. A five put stretch put them ahead 22-15, and despite four late points from the Wildcats, Dallas was able to close the match with a 25-19 third set win.

Sadi Jones led the Wildcats with 10 kills on the night, her third straight match with double digit kills. Paris Babino extended her streak to 11 straight matches with double digit assists, with 15 against UTD. Babino also added 12 digs, a team high for the match, and Jaslyn Bright picked up 11 digs for the Wildcats.

LC travels to UT Tyler for a 2pm match with the Patriots on Saturday. They will then participate in the second ASC crossover weekend next Friday and Saturday in Abilene, before returning to H.O. West Fieldhouse for home matches against ETBU and LeTourneau the following weekend. Stay connected to LC volleyball online by following @LC_wvolleyball on Twitter and liking them on Facebook.
