The Louisiana College men's basketball team returns to action this weekend with a pair of non-conference games against Centenary and Rust College. The Wildcats will travel to Shreveport on Thursday night to take on the Gents before returning to Pineville on Saturday for a date with the Rust College Bearcats, in the 2016-17 home opener. LC dropped their two opening conference games on the road last week to McMurry and Hardin-Simmons putting them at 1-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Centenary comes into Thursday's game with a 2-5 record after falling to Stephen F. Austin and fellow ASC foe University of Ozarks in their last two games. The Gents have lost four games in a row after back-to-back wins over Hendrix and Millsaps before Thanksgiving. They are 0-4 this season agaisnt teams in the American Southwest Conference. Centenary is led by senior forward James Sapp, who is averaging a double-double so far this season. He puts in an average of 20.4 points per game and grabs 10.0 rebounds per contest. The Gents also have two other players averaging double digit points, Travion Kirkendoll with 17.3 per game and Cedric Harris with 11.1. The team is averaging 78.0 points per game and shooting 41.7% from the floor, 31.9% from behind the arc, and 74.2% from the free throw line.

Rust College will be the first "home" game of the 2016-17 season for the Wildcats. Due to the refurbishment of the floor in H.O. West, the game against the Bearcats will be played at The Fort, on the the campus of LSU-Alexandria. There will be no changes to the pricing for tickets and LC students will still be admitted free of charge. Rust comes into the game with a 1-9 record on the season, their only win coming over MacMurry before Thanksgiving, the Bearcats have lost six in a row since that game. Rust is led by junior forward Allen Potts, who averages 17.8 points per game and is converting more than half of his shots from the floor. As a team Rust averages 69.5 points per game, and is shooting 40.5% on field goals this season.

After losing their first two conference games of the season last weekend at McMurry and Hardin-Simmon, the LC men return to action with two non-conference games this week. The Wildcats split their only other non-conference games Thanksgiving weekend against Millsaps and Rhodes. After wining their first game of the season over Millsaps, the Wildcats have lost three in a row. LC has three players averaging more than 10 points per game through the first four games,
John Parker leads the way with 12.8 points, followed close by
Raheem Regis with 12.5, and
Steve Evans with 10.0 per. Evans leads the team in rebounds this year with a total of 34 for an 8.5 per game average. The Wildcats average 71.2 points per game and allowing 74.5 to their opponents. They are shooting 45.6% from the field and only 64.7% from the free throw line. Against Hardin-Simmons, the Wildcats missed 10 free throws in the second half of an 11 point loss to the Cowboys.
LC takes on Centenary on the road in Shreveport, Thursday night before hosting Rust College on Saturday afternoon in Alexandria. The game Saturday will tip off at 3pm at The Fort on the campus of LSU-Alexandria.
