For the fourth consecutive season, the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats will play for the American Southwest Conference Tournament championship.
LC advanced to the championship game after a heart pounding 82-79 overtime victory against Texas-Tyler on Saturday afternoon in Brownwood, Tx.
Natosha Gottlieb followed her career-best 38 point performance on Friday with another outstanding game.
The senior from Bolton High School scored 22 points to go with 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 blocks, and 4 steals.
Four Lady wildcats scored exactly 10 points a piece, with
Kala Chenier,
Danisha Allison,
Shaina Howard, and Keanna Frank all reaching that number.
Despite shooting just 35% from the field (25-71) and 26% from beyond the three-point arc (10-38), LC was able to score over 80 points due in large part to their outstanding performance at the free-throw line.
LC went 22-26 (84.6%) from the charity stripe compared to 60.5% (23-38) for Texas-Tyler.
The Lady Wildcats will take on Texas-Dallas in the 2013 ASC Championship game, as the Comets upset ASC West favorite Howard Payne 60-54 in Saturday's other semifinal matchup. Texas-Dallas defeated LC 74-72 on February in overtime to serve them their first conference loss of the season.
That game will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon in Brownwood. LC is the only ASC East team to win an ASC championship in the 16-year history of the tournament, as they took home the crown in 2010 under the direction of the late Janice Joseph-Richard.
