LONGVIEW, Texas – The Louisiana College men suffered a heartbreaking loss Saturday, falling 57-56 to American Southwest Conference foe LeTourneau.
The LC men (6-10, 6-8 ASC) led by as many as 11 and trailed by as many as eight in the contest but fell one point short when they failed to convert a layup with just three seconds to play.
Worse for the Wildcats, LeTourneau (4-15, 3-12 ASC) outrebounded LC 46-25 and scored 16 second-chance points to LC's 5.
The loss overshadowed solid performances by three LC seniors.
Korey Salmon (Deville, La./Buckeye HS),
Jarrod Jackson (Albany, La./Albany HS) and
Jelani Mitchell (St. Martinville, La./St. Martinville HS) scored 16, 12 and 10 points respectively.
LeTourneau was led by Kendrae Carter with 18 points.
Louisiana College returns home next week for a pair of conference games, the first of which will take place Thursday at 7:30 p.m. when LC hosts Texas-Tyler.
