LONGVIEW, Texas – Longtime Louisiana College coach
Gene Rushing logged the 299th win of his career here Saturday afternoon after his Wildcats ran away from LeTourneau 93-62 in American Southwest Conference play.
It was also a much-needed road win for the Wildcats (9-9, 8-6 ASC), who had been just 2-6 on the road prior to the game.
Sophomore
Danny Sumner led the team in scoring, hitting 7-fo-12 from three-point range en route to a game-high 21.
Korey Salmon, LC's 6-foot-9 junior post, filled the stat sheet and scored 16 points to go along with seven rebounds, eight assists and two blocks.
Point guard JeLani Mitchell scored 18 points and dished out six assists while
Jarrod Jackson scored 10 points and secured seven rebounds.
Chukwuma Ekeh, a post and the lone senior on the squad, was good for 11 points in the win with junior
Ryan Meadows adding eight.
LeTourneau was paced by 14 points from Jarrod Hudgens and 13 from Karsten Winegart.
LC will next be in action on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. against Texas-Tyler, the school's annual “Fill the Field House” game, during which fans will be admitted for free and the Louisiana College Athletics Department will collective funds for the ASC's “Make a Change” charity.
