CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Louisiana College women's tennis team put up a good fight but came up short against both John Brown and Ozarks on Saturday, losing to both teams 9-0.
In the John Brown game, Meggie Hixson had the best showing for LC, falling 6-2 and 6-0 to Emily Caneday.
Other singles matches saw Jessica Ward fall to Christine Starch 6-1 and 6-0, Shelby Berthelot lose to Audrey Phillips 6-0 adn 6-0, Raquel Flaggert lose to Carrie Bognadoff 6-1 and 6-0, Marie Champayne fall to Margo Smith 6-0 and 6-0 and Lannie Walker lose to Christine McPherson 6-0 and 6-0.
In doubles play, Ward and Hixson fell to Caneday and Phillips 8-1, Berthelot and Falggert lost to Bognadoff and Starch 8-0 and Champayne and Walker lost to Smith and Dye 8-0.
When the Lady Wildcats faced American Southwest Conference foe Ozarks, the pairing of Hixson and Ward were the top performers for LC, falling 8-2 to Lauren Jardieu and Emily Drake in doubles.
The other doubles matches saw Berthelot and Flaggert lose 8-0 to Blair Vona and Jennifer Fretwell and Champayne and Walker fall 8-0 to Tara Richards and Chelsea Glasscock.
In singles competition, Hixson lost to Vona 6-0 and 6-0, Ward lost to Jardieu 6-0 and 6-0, Drake defeated Berthelot 6-0 and 6-0, Glasscock defeated Flaggert 6-1 and 6-0, Richards downe Champayne 6-1 and 6-0 and Fretwll bested Walker 6-0 and 6-0.
