In June of 2018, Matt LeBato was named head coach of the Louisiana College women's basketball team.

In his two years at the helm of the Lady Wildcats, LeBato has developed several award winners, including two straight American Southwest Conference East Division Freshman of the Year honorees as he works to redevelop the team into the force it was, and has now been tasked with another transition as the team moves from NCAA Division III to the NAIA.

Before being named LC's head coach, LeBato spent two years as an assistant on the staff of Kacie Cryer at McNeese State, a NCAA Division I program in Lake Charles, La., to give him his start on the collegiate level.

LeBato started his coaching career in the high school ranks as an assistant at St. Louis Catholic in Lake Charles, a team he helped guide to a 25-5 record and a spot in the LHSAA's Top 28. He also volunteered for numerous camps across the country, including in at IMPACT Basketball in Las Vegas where he got to work with several NBA players like Kyle Lowry, Tayshaun Prince, Stanley Johnson, & Andre Drummond.

He finished out his playing days in Natchitoches, La. playing under legendary head coach Mike McConathy at Northwestern State. Prior to NSU, he played at Baton Rouge Community College.

A man who's spent his whole life around a basketball court, LeBato was mentored by his father & uncle, who were both long time coaches in the Lake Charles/Sulphur area in southwest Louisiana. He ended up playing for his dad at Sulphur High School.
