Carla Tejas began her collegiate head coaching career when she was named the Louisiana College head women's soccer coach in the summer of 2020.

Tejas came over to LC from then-ASC foe Belhaven University, where she was an assistant coach who primarily worked with goalkeepers. In her two years at Belhaven, the Blazers saw dramatic improvement in the play of their goalkeepers as BU's goals against average fell from 3.76 goals per game in 2017, the season before she arrived, to 1.55 goals per game in 2019, her final season in Jackson. With the leak at goal lessened thanks in part to Tejas' coaching, Belhaven went from a two-win team to a ten-win team and a participant in the ASC Postseason Championship Tournament.

She is no stranger to central Louisiana prior to her hiring as the head coach of the Lady Wildcats. Tejas played the final two season of her collegiate career across the Red River from LC at LSU Alexandria, where she was one of the original Generals players on the newly-formed LSUA soccer team. She had a 5-6 record as a LSUA goalkeeper with a 1.275 goals against average in those two seasons. Following the end of her playing days, she was added to the LSUA coaching staff. Under Tejas' tutelage in 2017, LSUA amassed ten clean sheets in 19 matches and earned the program's first-ever conference regular season championship, while LSUA's top keeper of that squad was named the Conference's Newcomer of the Year.

Tejas earned her Bachelor's Degree in business with a concentration in management from LSU Alexandria, and a Master's from Belhaven in business administration.
